Japan Visit, 2006 Hachidai Jinja (Hachidai shrine) in North Kyoto On the way to Ichijoji Sagarimatsu to fight with Yoshioka (one of the most famous fights Mushashi faught), Musashi passed through this shrine and was about to pray for victory when he came to reallization that while a true warrior should respect God and Budda, they should not look outside oneself or to a higher power for victory. He stopped praying and went to the fighting place. Ganryu-jima, Shimonoseki, Kyushu Another famous duel Musashi fought was with Sasaki Kojiro. It took place on a tiny island in the Straits of Shimonoseki called Ganryu-jima.
