Welcome to Toronto Niten Kai Inc.
We are a Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu training centre in Toronto, Canada.
Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu is one of many Japanese kenjutsu styles. (Kenjutsu is the name of the sword fighting techniques which were developed and practiced by the samurai in Japan in the 16 - 19th centuries.)
It was founded in early 1600s by Miyamoto Musashi (1584-1645), one of the greatest sword masters in Japanese history, whose book "Gorin No Sho" (Book of Five Rings) is well known not only in Japan but also in the West. The most distinctive feature of Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu is its concurrent use of two swords - long and short.
Our headmaster is the 11th Seito Soke Iwami Toshio Harukatsu . (Seito Soke means the headmaster of the school which is officially recognized as the main school of the style.) The school headquaters (Doku-Gyo-An) is located in Kokura, Kitakyushu, Japan. (see map)
